Summary:
In this session, medical professionals in the bleeding disorders community highlighted the necessity of female inclusion in bleeding disorders research. After discussing data showing the inequality between male and female inclusion in research studies, scientists underscored the inherent bias in research that focuses on men with bleeding disorders and its inability to speak comprehensively on symptom presentation in women. Researchers also briefed the audience on the importance of utilizing and stretching resources in nations with varying levels of medical infrastructure and funding as a way to complete significant, global research. Finally, all speakers reflected on the pathway forward toward increasing female involvement in research and the number of female-led studies that consider all aspects of women’s health.
